General Description General Description This manual describes the purpose for the various softwares that make up the Panasonic Document Management System. Please check what software you need to install to suit your requirements. For details on how to use the software, please refer to the operating instructions of each software. The following softwares can be used with the DP-C262/C322.

PCL Printer Driver The PCL Printer Driver is required to send print data from a Windows computer to your machine. The properties window of the PCL Printer Driver can be used to specify print settings such as the print orientation and page size. The PCL Printer Driver also provides a range of easy-to-use layout functions that allow you to setup printing to suit your requirements.
PS Printer Driver Required Options PS Driver The PS Printer Driver is the base software required to send print data to your machine as a network printer or local printer in PostScript format. The driver can also output data to a remote machine on the Internet using the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) (Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 only). 7 Printer Driver The PS Printer Driver is required to use your machine as a PostScript printer.
Direct Printing System The Direct Printing System software is used to output JPEG, TIFF or PDF files from a computer to your machine(s) directly using simple drag and drop operation. As the files are printed directly bypassing the Windows printer driver, the software does not only allow printing to be performed simply, it also gives the user access to functions such as Delivery Printing and Parallel Printing by selecting which machines to use.
Network Scanner (Communications Utility) The Communications Utility software uses devices connected to the network to scan documents and receives the scanned image data on a computer. Required Options Scanner The scanned image data is automatically sent to a specified computer. Scanning is performed by placing the document in the scanner and starting the scan from the device's operation panel. Scanner & FAX Software A message appears on your PC when image data is received.
Fax Driver The FAX Driver software is a simple way to send faxes. The software uses a device connected to a network to send faxes from the computer. Required Options FAX Internet FAX Documents created on the computer can be faxed through the device. Documents do not have to be printed before faxing. Scanner & FAX Software NOTE 10 The FAX Driver provides a simple way for sending out faxes, however, Panafax Desktop is required if you want to receive faxes.
Panafax Desktop The Panafax Desktop software makes it possible for you to send and receive faxes on a computer by using devices connected to the network. Required Options FAX Internet FAX Documents created on a computer can be faxed from the device. The document does not need to be printed first. Scanner & FAX Software A message appears on your PC when a fax is received. The received fax image can be displayed on the computer screen.
Device Explorer The Device Explorer software searches a network for connected devices, and displays them in a list from which you can monitor the connection status, and run the various utility softwares for each device. The utility software* associated with each displayed device can be invoked. * : The following utility softwares can be invoked from Device Explorer. Setting & Monitoring Software Embedded Web Page : Used to view or edit device settings. Requires that Internet Explorer is installed.
Device Monitor The Device Monitor software displays detailed status information for devices connected to the network, and displays notification when events such as errors or print job completion occur. The software can also be used to check the level of consumables such as toner and paper. The software must be installed separately on each PCs. Displays the status and the connection of the device.
Web Device Monitor The Web Device Monitor software displays detailed status information for devices connected to the network and displays notification when events such as errors or print job completion occur. The software can also be used to check the level of consumables such as toner and paper. The software is installed on a server PC and is used from individual client PCs by accessing the server PC from a web browser. No software needs to be installed on the individual client PCs. 1.
Web Server & Embedded Web Launcher The Embedded Web Server is a tool for viewing and editing device function settings from a web browser on a computer connected to a network using the web server function built into the device. The web server for each device can be opened by entering the IP address of the device into the web browser.
Network Configuration and Address Book Editor The Network Configuration Editor uses the FTP protocol to edit settings for all functions in connected devices (printer, copier, scanner, or fax). The Address Book Editor manages the IP addresses, telephone numbers, and similar settings for devices connected to the network (printer, copier, scanner, or fax). The Network Configuration Editor displays and edits device (printer, copier, scanner, or fax) settings.
IPX/SPX setup utility The IPX/SPX setup utility software searches a NetWare network for Printing devices and displays these in a list from which you can perform operations such as specifying the network setup and creating print queues. Document Manager and Document Viewer The Document Manager and Document Viewer are softwares used to manage various types of documents on a computer. The Document Manager displays the files and folders on a computer together with a folder tree. Document Distribution System (DDS) The Document Distribution System automatically distributes documents (scanned images, fax images, and Emaill, etc.) received by a device to designated recipients on the network. The system administrator can setup the distribution settings and recipients on the server beforehand. Required Options FAX Internet FAX Scanner DDS The system distributes data received by a device to folders of specific clients in accordance with the distribution settings.
Accounting Software The Accounting Software records and calculates the total usage of devices connected to the network. Required Options Accounting By setting the unit price for the device usage, usage billing can be calculated by department or by user from the job history records. The Job history records the users, the departments they belong to, and the usage method for each device.
