Watching analogue and digital broadcasts
1 Turn on the television and select the
appropriate AV input to suit the
connections to this unit.
2 Press [Í DVD] to turn the unit on.
3 Press [WXCH] to select the channel.
Everytime you change the station, digital channel information
appears automatically (terrestrial digital channels only).
Channels are displayed in the order of digital channels first,
and then followed by analogue channels.
≥You can also select the channel with the numbered buttons.
∫To select audio
You can select audio from multiple channels when the unit
receives multi-channel broadcast (➡ 43, DVB Multi Audio).
∫To show subtitles [For]France,[Italy[and[Spain[
≥When “Subtitle” appears in digital channel information
–Press [STTL ]. When there are multiple languages,
select the subtitle (➡ 43, DVB Subtitle).
Press again to hide.
∫If New service message appears
When a new DVB channel is added this unit will be informed
automatically. Then the confirmation message appears. If you
select “Yes” on the display, Auto-Setup starts (all channel
settings and all created profiles are deleted. The timer
recording programmes are also cancelled.).
The display/hide setting can be changed (➡ 67, New Service
Messages).
[Note] (Digital broadcast only)
≥This unit can receive Standard Definition (SD) broadcasts, but is
unable to receive High Definition (HD) broadcasts.
≥This unit can receive free cable television but it cannot receive paid
services.
≥[For]France,[Italy[and[Spain[ Programmes are recorded with subtitles
when you record them with the subtitles on.
≥[For]France,[Italy[and[Spain[ You cannot switch subtitles during timer
recording.
While stopped
Press [STATUS ] to show the information
screen.
To switch information of the current programme and the next
programme
Press [2, 1].
To select the information for other stations
Press [3, 4].
≥Press [OK] to watch the selected station.
To show detailed information about the programme
Press [STATUS ]
again (only when “info ” is displayed).
≥Signal Quality
No Signal: The digital broadcast signal is not being received.
Bad Signal: Due to poor signal conditions, etc., the digital broadcast
signal has been interrupted.
No Service: No broadcasts are currently available.
∫ To change the profile to easily select one of your
favourite channels (➡ 69)
You can press the “Blue” button to change the profile (e.g., TV,
Radio, Edit Profiles screen) and then press [3, 4] to select the
channel.
∫ To change the length of time digital channel
information is displayed
You can change the length of time digital channel information
(➡ 67, On-Screen Messages).

≥By following the information sent from the station, you can check
the programme information.
≥If you record a digital radio broadcast or a digital broadcast that is
not being received correctly, digital channel information is also
recorded and will remain visible during playback.
This unit is a DVD recorder with an integrated DVB tuner. This
means that you can receive and record both analogue and
terrestrial digital channels without having to connect an additional
DVB receiving unit.

Digital channel information
If “No Signal” or “Bad Signal” is displayed, check the
following:
≥Adjust the position and direction of the aerial.
≥Check that the current digital broadcast channel is correctly
broadcasting.
A New DVB Service has been found.
Start DVB Auto-Setup.
Selecting DVB Auto-Setup will delete
current Profile settings and all Timer Programmes.
