Aperture-Priority AE Mode
Set the aperture value to a higher number when you want a sharp focus background.
Set the aperture value to a lower number when you want a soft focus background.
Aperture value:
Reduces
It becomes easier to defocus
the background.

Increases
It becomes easier to
maintain focus as far as the
background.
