Useful Information
Installing Software
14 At the con rmation message, click [YES].
Installation starts according to the instructions on the screen. (It will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes.)
Do not interrupt installation, for example by turning off the computer or pressing
Ctrl
+
Alt
+
Del
.
Otherwise installation may become unavailable as Windows may not start up or the data may be corrupted.
15 When Ending process screen is displayed, remove the Recovery Disc and DVD drive.
Click [OK] to turn off the computer.
Click [OK].
The computer will restart.

Turn on the computer.
If the password is requested, enter the Supervisor Password.
17 Perform the “First-time Operation” (
page 18).
NOTE
The date and time, and the time zone may not be correct. Be sure to set them correctly.
18 Start the Setup Utility and change the settings as necessary.
19 Perform Windows Update.

When you will install the Windows 7 OS from Windows 8, update Multi-Touch Device (touchscreen) rmware us-
ing the following procedure after step 20.

Download the document.
1. Visit the following web site:
http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/itn/default.html
2. Click [BIOS and EC] in [Search] at the left side menu.
3. Set the [Toughbook CF-C2] on “product” and click [Search].
4. Select the title (including “Multi-Touch Device rmware“, “Windows 7“, “Latest“) and then click the title.
5. Download the document (PDF format).

Download the necessary les and perform the rmware update according to the document.
CAUTION
<Only for Windows 7 downgrade model>
The rmware is speci c to Windows 8 or Windows 7. Be sure to use the appropriate rmware for your operating
system. Touchscreen operation is not guaranteed if the incorrect rmware is used. In particular, using the Windows
7 rmware in Windows 8 will result in problems or inability to use the sleep and shutdown functions, in addition to
the touchscreen malfunction.

Check the rmware version:
A
Perform the rmware update tool (for Windows 8 and Windows 7).
B
Check the “Current Version” that appears on the screen.
When installing the Windows 8 OS from Windows 7, we recommend that you update to the Windows 8 rmware
while Windows 7 is running. If update is not possible, update the rmware after installing the Windows 8 OS from
Windows 7. In such cases, however, the touchscreen cannot be used during installation.
