20 Preliminary Check
The UIM is an IC card that holds your information such as phone
numbers. You cannot use the FOMA terminal for communications
such as voice calls, text messaging, or data communications,
unless the UIM is inserted.
Q For details about UIM, refer to the Instruction Manual of the UIM.
Q Installation/removal of the UIM should be performed with the FOMA
terminal shut off and the battery pack removed (zZ page 22).
Q Be careful not to touch or damage the IC part when handling the UIM.
Attempts to install/remove the UIM card forcibly may damage the UIM.

Pull the tab part to take out the tray
Q Pull it up to the line A.

Place the UIM on the tray with the gold IC part
facing down
Q Align the notch of the UIM with the tray.

Press in the tray
Q Securely press the card in to the line B.

Pull out the tray in accordance with step 1 in
“Installation of UIM” on page 20 to remove the UIM
