Instructions for Installing Single-acting Spring Hinges
CAUTION:
A.) Do NOT exceed three (3) holes tension for 180
o
door opening, or four (4) holes
tension for 90
o
door opening.
B.) Always rotate the hex wrench clockwise regardless of the right-handed or the left-
handed door application.
INSTALLATION:
1.) Installing spring hinges:
Install spring hinges in normal manner with the adjustment end of the
hinge up, as shown in FIG. 1 of above.
2.) Adjusting spring torque:
a.) Adjust torque ONLY after all hinges are installed and after the door is
closed.
b.) Use the hex wrench to rotate the adjustment capstan clockwise to proper
spring tension, and then insert the tension pin into the tension hole. Make
sure the tension pin is flushed with the hinge and not sticking out.
c.) Remove the hex wrench and let door close by itself. To achieve the
proper closing force, change adjustment from one hole to the next, in
either direction by using the hex wrench as tension pin is removed and
reset.

Note:
1.) Wind conditions, excessive air pressure on one side of an opening, weather-strip,
or other adverse job conditions may require the use of all spring hinges
2.) For maximum versatility, use all spring hinges.
