Getting, sending, and managing e-mail
177
If scheduled retrieval of e-mail discovers and downloads new messages for a given
e-mail account, a notification appears in the Attention Manager displaying the
account name and the number of new messages. If retrieval is scheduled for more
than one account, a separate notification appears for each account.
Tap the notification to go to the Inbox of that account, or launch the VersaMail
application and go to that account. Once you view a message in the Inbox it is
removed from the Attention Manager notification, even if you do not open the
message. Scheduled retrieval then starts at the next scheduled interval with the
Attention Manager counter reset to 1. If you do not view the Inbox of the selected
account and another scheduled e-mail retrieval takes place and finds new
messages, the Attention Manager will add the number of new messages to the
notification for that account. For example, if schedule retrieval #1 finds two new
messages and, before you view the Inbox, scheduled retrieval #2 takes place and
finds three more new messages, the Attention Manager notification indicates five
new messages for that account.
If scheduled retrieval of e-mail discovers new messages but then fails for any
reason, a notification appears in the Attention Manager displaying the account
name and an error message.
You can tap the error message or open the VersaMail application to the given
account for more detailed information on the failed schedule retrieval.
