2 Overview This document contains step-by-step disassembly instructions for the Packard Bell EasyNote GN45. The instructions are illustrated where necessary with images of the part that is being removed or disassembled. Packard Bell reserves the right to make changes to the EasyNote GN45 without notice. Technician Notes Only technicians authorized by Packard Bell B.V. should attempt to repair this equipment.
3 Hazardous Voltage There is hazardous voltage present inside the notebook when it is connected to an AC supply, even when the notebookâs power switch is off. Exposure to hazardous voltage could cause personal injury. To avoid risk of injury, contact an Authorized Service Provider for proper (un)installation of optional hardware devices. Avoid Electrostatic Discharge Electrostatic electricity can easily damage circuit cards and integrated circuits (ICs).

Hard Disk Drive To remove the hard disk drive, first remove the battery (see Battery) and then perform the following steps: 1.

Memory Module To remove the memory module, first remove the battery (see Battery) and then perform the following steps: 1. Release the screws retaining the memory module slot cover. Fig. 7 Removing the memory slot cover. 2. Remove the memory module from the slot and put it aside.
77777 7 Fig. 8 Removing the memory module. WLAN Card To remove the WLAN card, first remove the battery (see Battery) and then perform the following steps: 1. Release the screws retaining the memory module slot cover (see step 1 in Memory Module). 2. Disconnect the wireless antenna cables (red circles on Fig. 9). Fig. 9 Removing the WLAN card. 3. Remove the two screws securing the WLAN card (yellow circles on Fig. 9). 4. Lift the card from the main board.
88888 8 Keyboard To remove the keyboard, first remove the battery (see Battery) and then perform the following steps: 1. Remove the indicated screws on the back of the notebook. Top Cover To remove the top cover, first remove the battery (see Battery), remove the hard disk drive (see Hard Disk Drive), remove the optical disk drive (see Optical Disk Drive), remove the keyboard cover (see Keyboard), Remove the Express Card (if needed), and then perform the following steps: 1.

Separate the top cover from the casing. LCD Module To remove the LCD module, remove the keyboard top cover (see Keyboard) and then perform the following steps: 1. Remove the four screws holding the LCD module 2. To disconnect the video cable, carefully pull the plastic part upward.

Main Board To remove the main board, first remove the top cover (see Top Cover) and then perform the following steps: 1. Remove the four screws securing the main board. CPU To remove the CPU, first remove the main board (see Main Board) and then perform the following steps: 1.

Express Card Reader To remove the Express Card reader, remove the top cover (see Top Cover) and then do the following: 1. Remove the two screws securing the Express Card reader. 1414141414 14 Touchpad To remove the touchpad, first remove the top cover (see Top Cover) and then perform the following steps: 1. Remove the four screws securing the touchpad to the top cover.
