THESE HEADERS ARE DESIGNED FOR OFF-ROAD RACING VEHICLES ONLY! PLEASE READ AND
FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. THE COMPONENTS OF THE LS-1 ENIGINE ARE MADE OF
ALUMINUM AND GREAT CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF STRIPPING OR
DAMAGING THREADS.
1. DISCONNECT BATTERY. RAISE VEHICLE AND SUPPORT WITH RAMPS OR JACKSTANDS OF SUFFICIENT
LOAD CAPACITY.
2. FROM BELOW VEHICLE, MARK AT 0-2 SENSORS TO IDENTIFY PROPER LOCATION. UNPLUG REMOVE
SENSORS TAKING CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THEM.
3. REMOVE FACTORY "Y" PIPE BY LOOSENING BAND CLAMP ON EXHAUST PIPE AND UNBOLTING FROM
CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. CONTINUE BY REMOVING CONVERTERS FROM FACTORY MANIFOLDS.
4. WHITE STILL UNDER VEHICLE, REMOVE PASSENGER SIDE SPARK PLUG AND REAR MANIFOLD BOLT,
AS ACCESS IS MUCH EASIER FROM THE BOTTOM.
5. MOVE TO TOP OF VEHICLE AND DISCONNECT E.G.R. LINES FROM MANIFOLDSAND SET ASIDE. UNBOLT
AND REMOVE DIPSTICK TUBE. (TECH TIP: IF DESIRED, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, THE COIL PACKS CAN
BE REMOVED AS AN ASSEMBLY FOR MORE ACCESS TO MANIFOLD BOL.TS.)
6. REMOVE LEFT AND RIGHT MANIFOLD BOLTS AND REMOVE MANIFOLDS FROM UNDER VEHICLE. CLEAN
CYLINDER HEAD SURFACES THOROUGHLY BEFORE HEADER INSTALLATION.
7. FOR DRIVER'S SIDE INSTALLATION, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO RAISE THE MOTOR SLIGHTLY TO GAIN
ROOM FOR HEADER INSTALLATION. NOTE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO COMPLETELY REMOVE MOTOR
MOUNT BOLTS. REMOVE SMALL HEAT SHIELD AND LOOSEN BOLTS ON THE ENGINE ' SIDE OF MOUNT
AND RAISE AND SECURE MOTOR. ONCE HEADER IS IN PLACE, LOWER MOTOR, RETIGHTEN BOLTS AND
REINSTALL HEAT SHIELD.
8. INSTALL PASSENGER SIDE HEADER FROM BOTTOM AND MOVE BACK TO TOP OF VEHICLE.
9. USING BOLTS AND GASKETS PROVIDED, INSTALL BOTH HEADERS AND TIGHTEN BOLTS
PROGRESSIVELY FROM THE CENTER WORKING OUTWARD TO PROVIDE UNIFORM PRESSURE AND
ENSURE A POSITIVE SEAT AGAINST THE CYLINDER HEAD.
10. REINSTALL ALL SPARK PLUGS AND PLUG WIRES. (NOTE: USE ANTI SEIZE ON ALL SPARK PLUGS.) AND
REPLACE COIL PACK ASSEMBLY ON PASSENGER SIDE. REPLACE OIL DIPSTICK TUBE.
11. USING ¼” BOLTS AND GASKETS PROVIDED, CONNECT E.G.R. LINES TO FITTINGS ON HEADER.
12. FROM BELOW VEHICLE, RE-INSTALL 0-2 SENSORS INTO ORIGINAL LOCATIONS. (NOTE: THE HEADERS
HAVE SENSOR FITTINGS FOR THE TWO FRONT SENSORS ONLY. USE PROVIDED WIRE EXTENSIONS
WHERE NEEDED. FABRICATION WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTACH FACTORY "Y" PIPE TO HEADERS, OR USE
PACESETTER PART #82-1163 OFF-ROAD Y-PIPE ASSEMBLY FOR A DIRECT FIT APPLICATION.
