LED-KNOW-HOW Know-how: A brief LED glossary. LED technology is complex. Knowledge of some of the basic concepts will go a long way to helping you understand the principles involved so we have prepared the following glossary for you. Average lamp life Dimmability is an average of the lives of individual lamps operated under standard conditions (50 % failure = average life). LED lamps have extremely long lives. However their light output diminishes over time.
