Environmental protection in every area.
Today, energy-effi cient products comprise more than 70 %
of OSRAM sales. Indeed, long before the European Union
published the ErP Directive (Energy related Products) for
energy-saving lighting, OSRAM had its eye on comprehen-
sive environmental protection: From the economical use of
resources to large-scale reduction of waste and harmful
substances as well as holistic waste disposal and recycling
concepts, from the development of energy-saving lamps
and systems to environmentally friendly production meth-
ods and effi cient distribution.

The European Union introduced the ErP Directive to grad-
ually phase out extremely energy-intensive light products
by 2017. Many ineffi cient lamps have already been phased
out and many more are expected to follow in the coming
years. The consistent transition to modern, effi cient lamps
is therefore inevitable. Fortunately OSRAM can prepare
