The first products have already been
removed from the market.
To combat climate change the European Union has agreed
to phase out conventional light sources that are wasteful
of energy. From September 1, 2009 manufacturers and
importers may no longer sell clear lamps* which:
are clear, are rated at 80 W (950 lm) or more and are s
not in at least Energy Class C or
are frosted and are not in at least Energy Class A. s
Clear lamps* with less than 950 lm must achieve at least
Energy Class E. Lamps in Energy Classes F and G have
been banned since September 1, 2009. Specifically this
means that:
all frosted incandescent and halogen lamps ands
clear incandescent and standard halogen lamps of 80 W s
and higher
have already been removed from the market. This applies
to all designs with the exception of special lamps and
reflector lamps.
