andfallinginthewrongdirection.

maynotfallinthedesireddirection
oritmayrockbackandbindthe
sawchain,stopcuttingbeforethe
fellingbackcutiscompleteand
usewedgesofwood,plasticor
aluminumtoopenthecutanddrop
thetreealongthedesiredlineoffall.
Whenthetreebeginstofall,remove
thechainsawfromthecut,stopthe
motor,putthechainsawdown,then
usetheretreatpathplanned.Bealert
foroverheadlimbsfallingandwatch
footing.

Limbingisremovingthebranches
fromafallentree.Whenlimbing,
leavelargerlowerlimbstosupport
thelogotheground.Removethe
smalllimbsinonecut.Branches
undertensionshouldbecutfrom
thebottomuptoavoidbindingthe
chainsaw(Fig.17).
