IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of un-insulated ‘dangerous voltage’ within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
• Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades, one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
EMI To reduce the possibility of outside electrical interference during performance, operate your amplifier and instrument away from appliances/equipment that generate high levels of electronic/electromagnetic noise. This may include, but is not limited to: fluorescent lighting, refrigerators, motors, mobile phones, radios, computers etc. BEFORE USING YOUR AMPLIFIER Speakers Always ensure the correct speaker load (Ω) is connected to the SPEAKER OUTPUT terminal(s) at all times during operation.
FRONT PANEL FEATURES Input Jack Socket Plug your instrument into this jack socket. Power toggle switch This turns on the mains power to the amplifier. STBY toggle switch When this switch is in the up position, the amp is in STBY mode. Refer to ‘Before Using Your Amplfier’. Select the PLAY (down) position for performance. EQ Lift Jack socket Plug a latching footswitch into this jack socket to remove the EQ and get more gain to the output stage.
Gain Control This controls the pre-amp gain of the amplifier. Bass Control This controls the bass response of the amplifier. Middle Control This controls the midrange response of the amplifier. Treble Control This controls the treble response of the amplifier. HF Drive This controls the upper midrange to the output stage of the amplifier. (Note – This will have more effect at higher volume levels.) Volume Control This controls the volume to the output stage of the amplifier.
REAR PANEL FEATURES CLASS AB – CLASS A Toggle Switch This switches the class and output power of the output stage of the amplifier. Class A = 30W Class AB = 50 watts (Note – The 30 watt setting will sound louder at lower volume settings but will make less power at full volume.) SPEAKER OUTPUTS (8 Ω, 8 Ω, 16 Ω) Please refer to “Using Your Amplifier”. HT FUSES (HT1, HT2) 2 x T500mA These fuses will both blow simultaneously if either of the power amp/output stage valves fail.
VALVES AND FUSES CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME! From time to time output and preamp valves may fail. We suggest that output valves are changed at least once a year and that all class AB models (50 watts and above) will benefit from having the bias checked and adjusted. Bias checking must be carried out by a qualified engineer. Orange amps are protected from damage caused by valve failure and inconsistent mains voltage by various fuses. We recommend that Orange users have a set of spare valves and fuses.
