Controlling an Onkyo
MD
recorder
The g I connector of lhe Onkyo MD recorder must be connected to
the TX-DS898 (see page 14).
1. Press the MD MODE button.
The MD MODE button lights green.
2. Press the desired operation button.
The butlons shaded in the figure to the left are the operation
buttons that can be used to control an Onkyo MD recorder.
Operation buttons:
ON: Turns on anti off 1he MD player (same as STDBY butlon on the
remote controller).

[;:_: Track up
D>: Play
[2: Stop
_: Fast reverse
C:C>:Fast forward
R (Rec): Record
@: Pause
m-: Eject the disc
1 to 9, 0, -4---: Numeric keys
ENTER: Enters the settings
You may also use the following buttons:
VOL _/?: Adjusts the volume at the TX-DS898
MUTING: Activates the muting function al the TX-DS898
CABLE
SA_
SAT, CABLE, VCR, and TV MODE buttons
No preset codes axe programmed into the SAT, CABLE, VCR, and
TV MODE bultons. You can use these buttons to program the
remote controller signals of o_her devices.
There are two methods. One method is selecting the name of a
different brand from the table, entering the setting nmnber lisled, and
calling up the pre-programming code (see page 59). The other
method is learning the commands from the olher brand's remote
control directly into this remote controller (see page 63).
When in the SAT, CABLE and VCR mode, you may use the
following buttons:
VOL _/V: Adjusts the volume al the TX-DS898
MUTING: Activates the muting function al the TX-DS898
