Setting-up Digital DBKs
If you have not already done so, review the applicable DBK section to ensure that the DBK option is
physically set as desired. Note that certain DBKs do not require hardware or software configuration.
Understand your DBK’s physical configuration before attempting to set the device in
LogView’s Hardware Configuration window. For example, if you were configuring a
DBK23, you would need to know the physical setup of switch S1 in order to select the
correct channel in LogView.
Reference Note:
The LogBook User’s Manual (p/n 461-0901) contains a detailed description of LogView,
and should be referred to if you need to go beyond the basic setup information that follows.
Complete the following steps to set up digital DBKs in LogView.
1. Open the LogBook Hardware Configuration Window by clicking the Hardware Configuration
button in LogView’s toolbar. A window similar to the following should appear.
Selecting P1, Analog IO, and a Mode of Single-Ended
2. Select P2, Digital IO and verify that its mode is set to Expansion Channels. See preceding figure.
The DBKs typically have a channel address set physically on the device, by either a
switch or a header. The channel designated in software must agree with the hardware
setting. Thus, in step 3 below, Channel 0 will only be used to select a specific DBK when
that DBK is physically set for Channel 0. Refer to the specific DBK section for more
information, if needed.
3. Select an available channel, such as P1_CH00, and assign it to the specific DBK option. As in the
above note, the DBK option’s physical channel must agree with the channel selected in LogView. In
the ongoing example we have selected one DBK4. Up to 8 DBK4s could be selected for P1_CH00.
