4-5 Customizing Camera Functions
X Choosing Values for [X] and [W] Sizes (Pixel Count)
Choose the size, in pixels, of the [X] (Xiddle) and [W] (Wmall) [KK] options
(P. 78).
• This item is for still photography. See page 82 for more information.
The sizes available for the [X] and [W] options are:
Xiddle (medium)
3200×2400, 1920×1440
Wmall (small)
1280×960, 1024×768

X Peripheral Illumination (Shading Comp.)
Compensate for the drop in brightness at the edges of the frame due to the optical
characteristics of the lens. Some lenses may exhibit a drop in brightness at the
edges of the frame. The camera can compensate for this by making the edges
brighter.
• This item applies during both still photography and movie recording.
Off Shading compensation disabled.
On The camera detects and compensates for reduced peripheral illumination.
• [On] has no effect when a teleconverter or extension tube is attached.
• Noise may be more noticeable at the edges of the frame at high ISO sensitivities.
