Defining a spot color
Aspot colorisanycolorgeneratedbyanink(pureormixed).Notethatspotcolorscanonlybeused
oncertainprinters.
IfyourprintercanusespotcolorsandyouwantaspotcolortobeusedinaPrintcontext,definethe
colorasdescribedabove,makingsureto:

Matchthecolor’snametothatofthespotcolorusedintheprinter.
l
ChecktheoptionSpot color.
l
Ifapplicable,checktheOverprintoptionforthisspotcolor.Overprintingreferstotheprocessof
printingonecolorontopofothercolors.Thisissometimesrequired,forexampletodealwithspe-
cialprintapplications,suchasapplyingUVinkorvarnishtoacertainarea,ortoavoidmis-regis-
trationwhenprintingblackontopofcoloredareas.

Defining a tint
Atintisatransparentcolor,basedonanothercolorinthetemplate.Todefineatint:
1. SelectEdit > Colorsonthemenu.
2. ClicktheNewbutton(thegreenplus)toaddthetint.
3. FromtheTypedrop-down,selectTint.
4. IntheEditcolordialog,typeanameforthecolor(orlettheDesignercreateanamebasedonthe
valuesthatyouselect).Thecolor’snamecanbeusedinstylesheets.Thisnameshouldnotcon-
tainspacesorspecialcharacters.
5. SelectoneoftheexistingcolorsinthetemplateastheSourceofthecolor.Thetintoropacitywill
beappliedtothiscolor.
6. CheckUse opacityifyouwanttosettheTintslidertouseOpacityinstead.
7. Usetheslidertosetthepercentageofthetintoropacity,ortypethepercentagedirectlyinthe
inputboxandfinallyclickOK.
