TomaketheCSSruleapplytoasetofparagraphswiththesameclass,firstgivetheparagraphsthe
sameclass(forexamplerounded).ThenaddthatclasstotheselectoroftheCSSrule,forexample
p.rounded { border-radius: 5px; }.
Colors
Colorsmakeanimportantcontributiontothelookandfeelofyourtemplates.Thistopicexplainshowto
defineandapplycolorsandhowtokeepthemconsistentindifferentoutputchannels.
Definingcolors,spotcolorsandtints
Colorselectors,suchasthedrop-downlistonthetoolbar,initiallycontainasmallsetofcolors.Add
yourowncolorssothattheycanbeusedthroughoutthetemplates,inallcontextsandincolorselector
dialogsaswellaswiththeirnamesinstylerules(see"Stylingandformatting"onpage260).
Defining colors
Todefinecolors:
1. SelectEdit > Colorsonthemenu.
2. Addacolor.Therearetwowaystodothis:

ClicktheNewbutton(thegreenplus).
l
SelectanexistingcolorfromthelistandcopyitusingtheDuplicatebutton .(TheFil-
terdrop-downlimitsthelisttocolorsofacertaintype.)Selectthenewcolorandclickthe
Editbutton .
3. IntheEditcolordialog,typeanameforthecolor(orlettheDesignercreateanamebasedonthe
valuesthatyouselect).Thecolor’snamecanbeusedinstylesheets.Itshouldnotcontain
spacesorspecialcharacters.
Tip: Workingwithstylesheets?Chooseanamethatreflectsthepurposeofthecolor,
ratherthananamethatdescribesthecolor.Thiswayyouwon'thavetochangethecolor's
nameinthestylesheetswhenyouchangethecolor.
4. ClickColor.(Tintisusedfortransparentcolors.)
5. Selectthecolortype:CMYKorRGB.
ThelettersCMYKstandforCyan(agreenish-bluecolor),Magenta(reddish-purple),Yellowand
Key(black).Incolorprinting,thesearetheusualprimarycolors.
