UsingaPDFfileorotherimageasbackground
InthePrintcontext,aPDFfilecanbeusedasasection'sbackground.ItisdifferentfromtheMediain
thatthesectionconsidersthePDFtobecontent,sothenumberofpagesinthesectionwillbethe
sameasthenumberofpagestakenfromthePDFfile.
WiththisfeatureitispossibletocreateaPrinttemplatefromanarbitraryPDFfile.Ofcourse,thePDF
fileitselfcan'tbeeditedinaDesignertemplate,butwhenitisusedasasection'sbackground,textand
otherelements,suchasabarcode,canbeaddedtoit.
EncryptedPDFfilesarenot supportedinPDF pass-throughmode.
TouseaPDFfileasbackgroundimage:
1. OntheResourcespane,expandthePrintcontext,right-clicktheprintsectionandclickBack-
ground.
2. ClickthedownwardpointingarrowafterImageandselectFrom PDF resource.
3. ForaPDFresource,youhavetospecifythepath.ClickingtheSelect Imagebuttonopensthe
SelectImagedialog(see"SelectImagedialog"onpage488).

qualifiedURLwiththe"file"protocolis:file://<host>/<path>.Note:ifthehost
is"localhost",itcanbeomitted,resultinginfile:///<path>,forexample:
file:///c:/resources/images/image.jpg.
