Continuous Printing on IPDS Printers
WhenprintingonhighvolumeIPDSprinters,itisbestiftheprinterdoesnotpauseoften.Oncontinuous
feedprintersinparticular,apausecanleadtomalfunctionsaswellascausedelays.It'snotjustthe
pauseitself,butalsotheadditionaltimespentwhilsttheprinterslowsdownandthenspeedsupagain
afterthepause.Thefastertheprinter,thebiggeranissuethisbecomes.
TheConnectPrintManageritselfwasincreasingthepausetimeasithadtomakesurethatthecur-
rentlyprintingjobwascompletedbeforesendinganewjob.
Toreducetheneedforsuchpauses,supportforIPDS output incorporating multipage
PDF containerswasaddedinConnect1.8.Most(ifnotall)modernIPDSprinterssupportMultipage
PDFcontainers,whichcanbeusedinsuchawaytoasremovepausesbetweenprintjobs.Thismeans
high-endprinterscannowbepreventedfrompausing.
TocaterforIPDSoutputwithMultipagePDFcontainers,thePrintManagerhasbeensignificantly
updated.

Installation Paths with Multi-Byte Characters
WheninstallingtheTraditionalChineseorJapaneseversionsofConnect,iftheuserspecifiesanaltern-
ativeinstallationpathcontainingmulti-byte/wide-charcharactersitcanbreaksomeofthelinkstothe
Connect-relatedshortcutsintheStartMenuandcauseanerrortoappearattheendoftheinstaller.
Theworkaroundforthemomentistousethedefaultinstallationpath.Theproblemwillbeaddressedin
alaterrelease.
