Generating output with PlanetPress Design documents
PlanetPress Design documents are typically selected in certain Output tasks designed to merge data
with a Design document, but they can also appear in other tasks that produce formatted data such as
the Digital Action task and the Add Document task.
If a task lets you select a PlanetPress Design document to be used with the task, the selection list will
appear on one or more of the tabs in the Task Properties dialog that appears when you add the task to
a process (see "Adding tasks" on page287).
For information about the options in the selection list, see "Selecting a resource file in task properties"
on page292.
Printer-centric printing
PlanetPress Design lets you send documents to printers as well as to PReS Workflow servers.
l
If you send a document to printers only and not to any PReS Workflow server, you will not be able
to see this document in the PReS Workflow Configuration program. To let PReS Workflow know
that the document is available, you will have to add a printer resident document to your PReS
Workflow configuration (see "Adding printer resident documents to the Configuration Com-
ponents Pane" below).
l
If you send a document to PReS Workflow servers only and not to any printer, you will be able to
see this document in the Configuration Components Pane of the PReS Workflow Configuration
program, but it will not be directly available on any printer.
l
If you send a document to PReS Workflow servers and to printers, you will be able to see this doc-
ument in the Configuration Components Pane of the PReS Workflow Configuration program and
it will be available on the printers.
Fonts used in Design documents
The fonts used in PlanetPress Design documents installed on PReS Workflow workstations should be
available locally. To install TrueType fonts, use the standard Windows procedure. To install PostScript
fonts, use the Install PostScript Font command in the Workflow ribbon (see "The PReS Workflow Rib-
bon" on page743).
Adding printer resident documents to the Configuration Components Pane
By default, the Documents group displayed in Configuration Components pane of the PReS Work-
flow Configuration program includes all those documents that are available on your local PReS Work-
flow server. Those documents that are not available on your local PReS Workflow server, but that are
either available on printers or on other PReS Workflow servers must be added to the list, otherwise you
will not be able to use them in your PReS Workflow configuration.
