Note that steps 6-8 can be performed at any time, even if PlanetPress Watch/Office/Production is not yet started. This is
because every Windows printer queue using Objectif Lune Printer Driver (PS) is paused by default. Once the service has
started, it captures every queued job.
PDF Creation Parameters
PDF files retrieved from a Windows print queue using Objectif Lune Printer Driver (PS) have the following properties:
l PDF 1.4
l Optimized PDF (subject to change)
l No down-sampling of images
These settings are pre-configured and cannot be changed by the user.
About Metadata
Metadata files are files containing information on the job itself rather than containing the job per se. A job sent to the Objectif
Lune Printer Driver (PS) creates its own metadata, allowing users to retrieve relevant information, such as, for instance, the
time and date the print request was sent. For more on this, see the Metadata documentation pages.
Location of Documents and Resources
PlanetPress Design documents may run in a variety of locations:
l On computers running PlanetPress Suite Workflow Tools.
l On printers.
l On computers running either or both PlanetPress Fax and PlanetPress Image.
In fact, the same PlanetPress Design document may be present in all these locations and the various output tasks included in a
given PlanetPress Suite Workflow Tools configuration may run these documents in any of these locations.
Run Modes
The Run Mode is the method in which the PlanetPress Document will be merged with your data. There are three run modes
available in PlanetPress Suite:
l Printer-Centric:The document and data are merged directly on the printer or the receiving software (which can be
a RIP, PlanetPress Image or PlanetPress Fax). All resources, including the document, images and fonts, must be avail-
able on the printer for them to be used.
Printer-Centric mode can be used in any version or flavor of PlanetPress Suite. However, printer-centric printing
requires a printer license for each printer, whatever the method used. This license must be entered in the PlanetPress
Suite software that is sending the job to the printer (PlanetPress Design or a PlanetPress Workflow Tools printer
queue). If the license is not present, a watermark appears in the output.
Optimized PostScript Stream can be used in any version or flavor of PlanetPress Suite. However, if used in PlanetPress
Watch or PlanetPress Office, a license must be available for the printer or the output will contain a watermark. In Plan-
etPress Production, you can output to any PostScript printer without a watermark.
l Optimized PostScript Stream:The document and data are merged on the computer where PlanetPress Suite is
installed before being sent as PostScript to the printer or the receiving software.
