Using PlanetPress iWatch
1
To start using PlanetPress documents, the following is required:
1. Define a source output queue (Option 6).
A source output queue is where you will send the spooled files that you want to merge with
PlanetPress documents. The source output queue is not associated with a printer writer.
2. Define the target output queue (Option 7).
A target output queue is associated with a Postscript printer.
3. Define PlanetPress/iSeries spooled file associations (Option 5).
This allows you to define how an iS e r i e s spooled f i l e w i l l be assoc i ated to a Plane t Press document.
4. Start the PlanetPress subsystem (Option 1).
The PPRESS subsystem is where all the PlanetPress monitors run.
5. Start a PlanetPress monitor (Option 2).
A monitor is a program that processes spooled files in the source output queue, merges the spooled file
with the PlanetPress document based on the association defined in step 3 and redirects the loaded
document to the target queue for printing.
The following diagram illustrates the Planet iWatch process.
