Mergeenginesareinvolvedinthecreationofoutputofallkinds(Print,EmailandWeb)andbecause
contentcreationisrelativelytime-consuming.
DataMapper engine
AddingDataMapperenginesmightbeusefulinthefollowingcircumstances:

Whenlargedatamappingoperationshavetoberunsimultaneouslyformanyjobs.
l
WhenfrequentlyusingPDForXMLbasedinput.ParticularlyinthecaseofXMLinputwithlarge
individualrecords.

WhentheAll In OnepluginisusedofteninWorkflowconfigurationsandtherearemorethantwo
Mergeenginesrunning.
TheConnectMariaDBdatabaseneedsafaststoragesystem(SSDorotherfastdevices)tobeableto
keepupwithtwoormoreDataMapperengines.
Whenthedatabaseisinstalledonasystemwithaslowharddrive,addingaDataMapperenginemay
notincreasetheoverallperformance.
Weaver engine
AddingextraWeaver(Output)engine(s)mightbeusefulwhenlargePrintjobsaretoberunsim-
ultaneouslywithsmallerPrintjobs.
Memory per engine
Bydefault,eachengineissettouseuptoapredeterminedamountofRAM.Tomakeoptimumuseofa
machine'scapabilitiesitmightbeusefultoincreasetheamountofmemorythatthevariousenginescan
use.

DataMapperenginesmayperformbetterwithgreatermemorywhenrunningjobscontainingalot
ofdata.

Forcomplextemplateswithalotofpagesperdocument,thereisachancethatMergeengines
willrunbetterwithmorememory.

ThemaximummemoryusageofaWeaverenginecanberelevantforjobswithheavygraphics;
orforjobsthatuseCut&Stackimpositioning;orforjobsusingparticularvariablesthatentail
pagebuffering(see"Contentvariables"onpage1333).
