Notethatitmaynotalwaysbepossibletodown-saveadatamappingconfigurationtoaanolderver-
sion.Forinstance,aJSON-baseddatamappingconfigurationcannotbesavedtoaversionearlierthan
2021.1becausetheJSONdatatypedidnotexistpriortothatversion.
Todown-saveadatamappingconfiguration,selectFile > Save a Copy,fromthemenu.Selectthe
softwareversionandclickOK.Nextyoucanselectalocationandgivethedatamappingconfiguration
aname,asusual.
Tosave a copy,followthesameprocedurewithoutselectingapreviousversionofthesoftware.
Note: SinceitwasnotpossibletocreateadatamappingconfigurationforaJSONfile(without
conversiontoXML)untilversion2021.1,thesedatamappingconfigurationscannotbesavedin
theformatofanearlierversion.
Using the wizard for CSV and Excel files
TheDataMapperwizardforCSVandExcelfileshelpsyoucreateadatamappingconfigurationforsuch
files.Thewizardautomaticallydetectsdelimitersandextractsalldatainoneextractionstep.
Thewizardinterpretseachlineinthefileasarecord.Ifyourdatafilecontainstransactionaldata,you
willprobablywantmorelinestogoinonerecordandputthetransactionaldataindetailtables.
Thewizardcannotcreatedetailtables.Ifthefilecontainstransactionaldata,thedatamappingcon-
figurationisbestcreatedwithoutawizard(see"Creatinganewdatamappingconfiguration"on
page200).
TherearetwowaystoopenaCSVfileorExcelfilewithawizard:fromtheWelcomescreenorfromthe
Filemenu.

2. ClickNew DataMapper Configuration.
