ThesoftwaresuggeststostoreallversionedprojectsintheOL Connectfolderthatislocatedin
theuser'sDocumentsfolder,witheachprojecthavingitsownfolderunderDocuments/OL Con-
nect.
Thefoldernamewillactuallybecomethenameoftheproject.Bydefault,thelocalrepositoryis
createdwiththesamenameastheonlinerepository.Forexample,iftheURLtotheonlinerepos-
itoryis'https://github.com/jdoe/promotional-print-project'thenthedestinationfolderwillbe
'C:\Users\<username>\Documents\OLConnect\promotional-print-project'.Youcanadjustthe
localprojectnameifyouwantto.
7. ClicktheRefreshiconnexttotheBranchfield,toupdatethelistofbranchesthatareavailablein
theremoterepository,andselectthebranchthatyouwanttoclonefromthedrop-downlist.
8. ClickOKtoclonetheproject.Theprojectwillbestoredinthedestinationfolder.
Nowyoucanopenanexistingtemplateordatamappingconfiguration(File > Open)orcreatea
newone(File > New).
Assoonasyousaveafileintheprojectfolder,itbecomespartoftheproject.
Note: Versionedprojectshaveahidden.gitfolder.Donotremovethisfolder.Itcontains
theversionhistoryand,inthecaseofanonlineversionedproject,informationaboutthe
remoterepository.
Tip: "SampleProjects"onpage918arelocallystoredversionedprojects.ToturnaSamplePro-
jectintoanonlineversionedproject,youcouldcreateanewprojectinyouronlinerepositoryand
addalloftheSampleProjectfilestotheonlineprojectbeforecloningitinOLConnect.Include
thelocal.gitignorefile,butdon’tuploadtheexisting(hidden).gitfolder.
Keeping the local and online projects in sync
Beforesynchingyourlocalrepositorywiththeonlinerepository,selectProject > Commit.Thisrecords
theprojectfilesasanewversioninthelocalrepository.Remembertosaveanychangesbeforeyou
commit.
Publishingchanges
PublishingthelocalchangestoyouronlinerepositoryisdoneviathePublish Commits…optioninthe
Projectmenu.Aconfirmationdialogisdisplayed,statingthatthechangeshavebeenpublished,or,if
therearenewchangesintheremoterepository,thatyouhavetodownloadthechangedfilesfirst.
