Target speed when running simultaneous jobsgroup:
IfasingleOutputCreationtaskisrunning,itwillberunatthefullspeedinthelicense.Butwhenmul-
tipletasksruninparallel,thisspeedhastobedividedbetweenthem.Bydefault,themaximumspeed
willbedividedequallybetweentasks.
Usethesesettingstooverridewhatspeed(inPagesPerMinute)shouldapplyforeachtypeofjob.This
allowsyoutoprioritizeoneormoretypeofjobabovetheothers.Forexample,ifyourproductionpro-
cessnormallyhandleslotsofsmalljobs,youmightwanttoprovidethesmallerjobsgreaterspeed
(throughput)thanthelessfrequentMediumandLargejobs.
Butiftherearesomanysmalljobsthattheystartlimitingthethroughputoflargerjobs?Ifthereis
alwaysatleastonesmalljobrunning,thenthemaximumspeedforthelargerjobwillstayathalfofthe
licensedlimit.Inthiscase,youmightwanttoincreasethetargetspeedforLargejobs.
Therearenohardandfastanswersastowhatsettingswillworkbest.Itwilllikelybeamatteroftrial
anderror.Butmanysiteswillnotneedtochangespeedsettingsatall.
Theoptionsare:
l
Small job (PPM):EnterthetargetspeedforSmalljobs,inPagesPerMinute(PPM).
l
Medium job (PPM):EnterthetargetspeedforMediumjobs,inPagesPerMinute(PPM).
l
Large job (PPM):EnterthetargetspeedforLargejobs,inPagesPerMinute(PPM)
Theentirelicensedspeedlimitwillalwaysbedistributedamongjobswhenrunningjobssim-
ultaneously.
Afterassigningatargetspeed,anyremaininglicensedspeedwillbedistributedthroughoutanysim-
ultaneousjobsbyarationofthetargetspeed.
