Data Capture Limitations
You can only capture a sample file or job file from a local, non-shared printer which means network and shared
printers cannot be used. Only the first 50 pages of your sample file will be shown in the preview at any given
time however when you print your job, all the pages are printed.
You can also capture a sample file from a different printer, but this printer has to be paused so it queues the job
but does not actually print it. Additionally, you must be using a printer that uses a PostScript driver. Finally, this
printer must be in RAW mode so the information is useable by PlanetPress EnvelopeNOW. When you select
any printer other than the EnvelopeNOW printer, PlanetPress EnvelopeNOW will automatically ask you to con-
vert it to RAW mode.
There are some limitations in capturing from a printer other than the EnvelopeNOW printer:
l Built-In accounts (Administrator and Guest)are not supported in data capture.
l Under Current User mode for a standard (non-administrator)user, data capture will only be successful if
the user is the owner of both the printer and the job and has full access on both.
l Under Current User mode, if multiple jobs are pending on the captured printer, the print job that gets cap-
tured is the first one that belongs to the user.
l Under Admin User mode, if multiple jobs are pending on the captured printer, the oldest print job in the
queue will be captured regardless of who owns it.
l The user account must have access to read and write the C:/Windows/System32/spool/PRINTER/ folder.
l In Windows XP and Windows 2003, the Admin User mode can only be used when your user account is
an administrator of the machine.
Conversion Limitations
When selecting a printer other than the default EnvelopeNOW Printer, a one-time conversion must occur to con-
vert the printer queue into RAWmode, and to pause the printer queue. The following limitations apply to this
conversion process:
l When converting, all print jobs currently in the printer queue will be deleted and lost.
l The user account doing the conversion must have access to read and write the C:/W-
indows/System32/spool/PRINTER/ folder.
l The user account doing the conversion must have the proper rights to stop and start the Windows Print
Spooler service. Generally this is reserved to administrator accounts.
l In order to convert a printer to RAWmode and prepare it for capture, the user must be an administrator of
the computer. With Windows Vista and Windows 7, this can be done through Elevation (UACmust be
enabled) with the Admin User mode selected.
