Edit various disk types
O&O PartitionManager allows you to create and convert various types of disks (basic or dynamic) and layouts (MBR or
GPT).
If a disk is not inititalized, you can convert it into a basic disk with an MBR or GPT layout. You can also convert it into a
dynamic disk with an MBR or GPT layout.
Important! There is a risk, in the event a job cannot be run successfully, that data saved on the respective drives
could be partially, or even totally lost. Convert to Dynamic disk
Tip: Additional information regarding the use of individual disk types is available in chapter Terminology.
Convert to a basic disk or a dynamic disk.
You can convert a basic disk into a dynamic disk and vice versa. Dynamic disks make it possible to create volumes that
extend over a number of disks. All volumes present on dynamic disks are labeled as dynamic volumes.
l
You can select the function Convert to dynamical diskby right-clicking , or under the program setting Action/All
actions.
l
You can select the function Convert to simple disk by right-clicking the disk, or under the menu bar under
Action/All actions.
Note: A disk may only be changed into a dynamic disk or a basic disk when the original disk contains no partitions or
volumes. *
* Exception:A base disk, which is subdivided into partitions with and MBR layout can be converted into a dynamical
disk with MBR layout. About 10 MB free hard disk space is needed for this.
