Acronym Description
ADS Application Development System
A Freescale board that is a platform for developing custom embedded
software for a particular Freescale microcontroller.
COP Common On-chip Processor
Name of connector to which you attach JTAG-type test equipment.
DWARF Debug With Arbitrary Record Format.
A portable debugging information format for ELF files. This information
allows source-level debugging of ELF files.
ELF Executable and Linkable Format
The object, executable program, shared object, and core file format for
Linux and many other UNIX operating systems.
IDE Integrated Development Environment
A system that supports the process of developing software.
JTAG Joint Test Action Group
A standard, on-chip, debug interface supported by many chips,
including most members of the Power Architecture family.
The standard specifies how to control and monitor the pins of
compliant devices on a printed circuit board. In addition, the standard
defines commands for reading and setting the values of pins and
internal registers of devices.
Test equipment connected to a JTAG port can identify the devices on a
board and can control and monitor the output of each device.

A software tool that lets you generate customized embedded Linux
images from LTIB-format Linux board support packages.
