USING BOWS AND CROSSBOWS SAFELY
You should be acquainted with the correct and safe use of your product. As far as the basic rules of
safe shooting are concerned, please remember that any handling of this sports equipment
is considered as use.
• Crossbows can be bought by over 18s. Bows can be bought without age restriction.
• Children may only use this product under adult supervision.
• Please wear finger and arm protection and safety goggles when shooting a bow or crossbow.
• Please ensure you adopt a safe and stable stance when drawing the string and placing the arrow
to prevent the product slipping. The high forces produced by drawing the string may cause injury.
• Be sure that your fingers or thumb are never in the way of the arrow or in the way of the cables
or the string.
• Only aim the product at targets that you intend to shoot. Always ensure that the arrows shot
cannot injure people or animals or damage objects. Always make sure that the shooting range
is clear and that the target area is secure and stable (to avoid risk of rebound). Maintain a safety
area of at least 200 m based on the maximum range.
• Never dry loose your bow or cross bow, i.e. never loose the bow or crossbow “empty” (without
an arrow). Lack of resistance will result in the kinetic energy being transferred to the limbs and
pulleys which can destroy them. This will not only destroy your sports equipment - you may also
sustain injury to your face, arms or body from flying parts.
• Please replace the string as soon as you notice first signs of wear and tear or damage to the
string.
• Make sure that the target and the surrounding area is secure before taking a shot.
• Never use damaged arrows. For safety reasons you should only use replacements parts and
accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
• Any modification or repair of bows or crossbows must be carried out by professional companies.
• Never set a loaded crossbow down.
