Excessive moisture can lead to numerous changes to your floor, such as cupping,
buckling or cracking. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you do not use water to
clean your floors.
11. What's the best way to clean hardwood flooring and keep it looking like new?
Sweep or vacuum (using a brush or felt head) your hardwood floor regularly to eliminate
abrasives, like dust and dirt that could damage the finish. Use outdoor and indoor mats
to collect dirt and moisture at the door before it reaches the floor. Wipe up spills
immediately and periodically clean your floors with Armstrong Hardwood and Laminate
Floor Cleaner.
12. What are edge treatments?
Edge treatments are the finishing details on the top edges of hardwood boards. All edge
treatments provide different visual effects.
Square edges: smooth, seamless appearance
Micro or eased edges: subtle distinction between planks
Scraped edges: scraped bevels artfully handcrafted
Pillowed edges: softly contoured plank edges
13. Is hardwood flooring a good choice for a home with pets?
Yes - but take precautions. The type of wood species you choose for your floor affects
how well it holds up to wear and tear. You can help ensure a beautiful-looking floor by
keeping your pets' nails trimmed, sweeping regularly to remove dirt, grit and fur, and
wiping up spills and accidents as soon as they happen.
14. When I walk across my hardwood floor, I hear popping sounds. Why?
Reasons may include:
Uneven subfloors
Incorrect use of trowel and/or adhesive during installation
Use of improper underlayment prior to installation
It is recommended that you contact a professional installer for assistance in handling these
types of issues.
15. My wood floor has some damage. Can it be repaired?
Yes, repairs include:
Color-blend filler for minor chips
Touch-up kit for scratches
Board replacement (Using an experienced Installer)
16. Is there a stain formula available to match my hardwood floor?
We do not offer stain or stain formulas. Consult a stain specialist that can custom blend
a matching stain color to order. Most major paint stores and home centers offer custom
mixing programs. (Check your warranty for any exclusion).
