Supported file types
The program supports a wide range of file types for images and text.
File types for opening and saving images
Input image files can have resolutions from 75 to 600 dpi, but 300 dpi
(both horizontally and vertically) is recommended for optimum OCR
accuracy. The minimum image size is 50 pixels on any side. The
maximums are 28 inches (71 cm) and 8400 pixels (but less for color or
grayscale images with resolutions below 200 dpi. See online Help.)
Black-and-white images enter the program at their original resolutions.
Use the Process panel of the Options dialog box to choose whether to
import grayscale and color images at their original resolutions or have
those above 150 dpi reduced to 75-150 dpi. That means these are not
good candidates for future OCR processing. You can control resolution
for saving page images and for embedded pictures at saving time.
Hover the cursor over a page image or its thumbnail to see a popup
window showing its size and resolution. Show or hide this display with
the Image Panels shortcut menu.
