The Format Menu (Design View Only)
Use the Format menu commands to set object attributes and field
definitions. See Chapter 6, Designing a Form, for detailed information
on each command.
Object Appearance...
— Select how selected objects appear. Options
in the Object Appearance dialog box vary according to the selected
object.
Object Definition...
— Set the properties and validation requirements
for a selected field or fields. (You cannot define a text, line, oval, or
rectangle object.)
Size and Position...
— Change the size and position of a selected
object.
• Type a number in
Left
to set the object’s position from the left side
of the page.
• Type a number in
Top
to set the object’s position from the top of
the page.
• Type a number in
Width
to set the object’s width.
• Type a number in
Height
to set the object’s height.
•Select
Snap Object(s) to Fit Table Cell
to fit an object you create in a
table cell automatically so that you do not have to size it
manually.
Font...
— Select font attributes for a selected text object, fill text field, or
comb element. Text entered in these fields in fill view appears with the
selected font attributes. A preview of the text appears in the
Sample
box.
Text...
— Select text attributes for a selected text object, fill text field, or
comb element. Text entered in these fields in fill view appears with the
selected attributes.
Table AutoFormat... (design view only)
— Select additional
definition and appearance options for a selected table and preview
changes before setting them. This command is available when the
entire
table is selected.
Bring to Front
— Bring selected object(s) in front of all form objects.
Send to Back
— Send selected object(s) behind all form objects.
Align
— Choose alignment for selected objects in a cascading menu:
Left, Right, Center Horizontally, Top, Bottom,
or
Center Vertically.
This is
useful for lining up objects evenly at different points than the
Snap to
Grid
command provides.
