Vocabulary Editor Window
TheVocabularyEditorwindowisyourinterfaceforviewingandeditingthelistof
words,phrases,andsymbolsthatMacSpeechDictatecantypeforyouinDictation
mode.
TosummontheVocabularyEditorwindow,chooseTools>VocabularyEditor.
TheveryrsttimeyouopentheVocabularyEditorwindowwhenagivenprole
isactive,therewillbeabrief delaywhileMacSpeechDictategeneratesaninitial
listof thebuilt-indictationvocabularyforthatprole.Oncethisinitiallistisgen-
erated,subsequentaccesstotheVocabularyEditorwindowisrapid.(Thelistis
long,though—over150,000words—sotherecanstillbeabrief delaywhenyou
performcertainactionsinthewindow.)
Toswitch among vocabulary lists:
• ClickAll,Built-In,orUser.Uservocabularycancomefromvocabularytrain-
ing(analysisof writtentext,see“VocabularyTrainingWindow”)orfrom
directeditinginthiswindow.Anicondistinguishesbuilt-invocabularyfrom
uservocabulary.
Tolter the displayed list:
• TypeinthesearcheldandpressReturn.Thepop-upmenuinthesearch
eldletsyoudeterminewhetherthelteroperationisContains,BeginsWith,
orEndsWith.Boththewrittenandspokenformsaresearched.Forexample,
aContainssearchon“dash”lists“balderdash”,becauseitswrittenformcon-
tains“dash”,butalso“---”,becauseitsspokenformis“em-dash.”Toempty
thesearcheldandstop ltering the list(displayingtheentirelist),click
the“x”inthesearcheldorpressEscwhenthesearcheldhasfocus.
