Appendix A. Getting technical support
You can contact technical support for installation and start-up assistance. You
can receive support by telephone or e-mail.
Frequently Asked Questions Database
A solution to your problem may already exist! Before contacting Technical
Support, check the Frequently Asked Questions Database and the Tested
Systems list. The Internet address is: http://www.ibm.com/viavoice
Click on Support in the left panel. Select your language, then select your
version of ViaVoice.
Information required before you contact Technical Support
Before contacting the Technical Support Center, you must have the following
information readily available:
v Your name and technical support ID (see the back cover of this book).
v Information about your computer: processor type and speed, amount of RAM
installed, available free hard-disk space, amount of cache, and make and model of
your sound card.
v Product name and version level. To see this, click Help and select the About option,
which displays product and version information.
v Other applications you use in conjunction with ViaVoice.
v Any specific error messages or codes that were displayed.
v A description of what you were doing when the error occurred. Try to re-create the
error before contacting the Technical Support Center.
If you do not have this information available, you may experience a delay in obtaining
technical support.
If your copy of ViaVoice came pre-loaded on a new computer, you should contact your
computer manufacturer or computer dealer for support.
