Step-by-Step Upgrade Process
Youmustfollowthesestepstosetoptionsforyourend-users:
1. IfyouareupgradingfromapreviousversionofDragon,copythensdefaults.iniandroam-
ingdef.inifilestoacentrallocationsotheycanaccessedlater.
2. Openacommandlinewindow(Start>Runandentercmd).
3. UninstallthecurrentversionofDragonwithmsiexec.exebypassingtheinstallerthe/x
optionfollowedbytheoldversion’sGUIDandthe/qnoptiontoturnoffanyGUI.
ThecorrectGUIDforeachVersionyoucanupgradetoDragonNaturallySpeaking13on
thecommandlineisshownintheadjacenttableandtheexamplebelowusestheDragon
9.xGUID:

msiexecautomaticallyretainsUserProfileswhenyouusethesilentoption.
Caution:Thefirsttimeyoutryanyupgrade,youshouldnotrunitinSilentmode,because
ifyouhaveneglectedtoproviderequiredinformation,youthenreceiveaGUIpromptfor
thatinformation.
4. IfyouareupgradingfromDragon12to12.x(minorupgrade),uninstalltheoldversionof
VisualC++RuntimeforDragonwithmsiexec.exebypassingtheinstallerthe/xoptionfol-
lowedbytheoldversion’sGUIDandthe/qnoptiontoturnoffanyGUI.Theexample
belowshowsuninstallingthe32-bitVisualC++RuntimeforDragon:

Touninstallthe64-bitversion,usethealternativeGUIDshownintheadjacenttable.
