Chapter 4: Upgrading Dragon
Upgrading end-user systems
After you upgrade the master Roaming User Profiles, you can upgrade the end-user systems that
use the Roaming feature.
Before proceeding with this section, make sure you perform the procedure in Upgrading master
Roaming User Profiles.
Note: You can only upgrade from Dragon 10.x or greater to Dragon 12. Upgrading from Dragon
9.x or earlier to Dragon 12 is not supported.
Step 1: Upgrade Dragon 10.x or 11.x systems that
use the Roaming feature
Since the
User Profile Upgrade Wizard
does not change or move the Dragon 10.x or 11.x
master Roaming User Profiles, your Dragon 10.x or 11.x systems can continue to use the Roaming
feature until you upgrade to Dragon NaturallySpeaking .
To upgrade a Dragon 10.x or 11.x system to Dragon NaturallySpeaking , follow the installation
instructions under Installing Dragon on a single computer .
Notes:
n When prompted, choose to remove the Dragon 10.x or 11.x Dragon installation. If you choose
not to remove the previous installation, you cannot continue to upgrade.
Step 2: Enable the Roaming feature on the Dragon
systems
When you upgrade to Dragon NaturallySpeaking , the Roaming feature is off by default.
To turn on the Roaming feature, perform the following steps on each Dragon NaturallySpeaking
client computer:
1. Start Dragon.
2. Close all User Profiles.
3. Click
Administrative Settings
on the
DragonBar Tools
menu. This displays the
Admin-
istrative Settings
dialog box.
4. On the
Roaming
tab, select
Enable
.
5. The
Network Directories
list displays the network location of the Dragon 10.x or 11.x master
Roaming User Profiles.
If you created a new network directory for the Dragon NaturallySpeaking master Roaming User
Profiles, you can either click the
Add
button to add the new network location or select a listed
directory and then click
Edit
to change the path to the new location. When you have finished,
click
OK
to close the
Administrative Settings
dialog box. You should also remove any Dragon
10.x or 11.x master Roaming User Profile directories that are not in use.
