Customizing Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Dragon NaturallySpeaking User’s Guide

■ Save recorded dictation with document: Use this list to have Dragon
NaturallySpeaking always save dictation files when you save a document
without asking, ask you with a prompt, or never save dictation files. Saving
dictation allows you to play back your speech after the original dictation session.
When you choose to save dictation, Dragon NaturallySpeaking saves it in the
same directory as the document you are dictating into in a file with the same
name as your document and the extension of .DRA. Since each .DRA file takes
up approximately 1.5 MB of disk space per minute of saved dictation, you
should delete the file when you no longer need it for corrections.
■ Automatically back up user files every "n" saves: Adjusts how often your user
files are automatically backed up.
■ Advanced: Click this button to open the Advanced dialog box containing
options to create a usability log, conserve the amount of disk space required by
user files, and to enable the collection of acoustic data that ScanSoft can use to
enhance the accuracy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
Restore defaults
The Restore defaults button restores the values of the Data tab to what they were
when you installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
