Analog Voice Modules 8

Analog voice modules provide support for Foreign Exchange Station (FXS),

ForeignExchangeOfﬁce(FXO),and Ear and Mouth (E&M)analogvoiceservices.

The following voice modules are available:

• the Universal Analog Voice Module (UAVM) and its three interface

modules (for FXS, FXO, and E&M)

• the single and dual channel Analog Voice Module (AVM).

Universal Analog Voice Module (UAVM)

TheUniversalAnalog VoiceModule (UAVM) converts analogvoiceobtained from

a telephone interface into digital form. The digitized signal is transmitted over a

datalinkandroutedtoacompatiblevoice/faxchannelspeciﬁedbythedestination

address. The UAVM consists of a motherboard and one or two interface modules

(see Figure 8-3, “Universal Analog Voice Module with Two Interface Modules

Installed”).
