Nailed-Up Connection
A nailed-up connection is a dial-up line where the connection is always up
regardless of traffic demand. The BCM50a Integrated Router does two things
when you specify a nailed-up connection. The first is that idle timeout is disabled.
The second is that the BCM50a Integrated Router will try to bring up the
connection when turned on and whenever the connection is down. A nailed-up
connection can be very expensive for obvious reasons.
Do not specify a nailed-up connection unless your telephone company offers
flat-rate service or you need a constant connection and the cost is of no concern.
The following table describes the fields specific to PPPoE encapsulation.
Remote Node setup
This section describes the protocol-independent parameters for a remote node.
Remote Node profile
To configure a remote node, follow these steps:
1 From the main menu, enter 11 to display Menu 11 - Remote Node Setup.
2 When menu 11 appears, as shown in the following figure, type the number of
the remote node that you want to configure.
