12 PPPoE configuration

12.4 Maintaining PPPoE
After confirming the statistics about the PPPoE session to be cleared, run the following reset
command.
Action Command
Clear the setup speed statistics of PPPoE
sessions.
reset pppoe-server session statistic interface
interface-type interface-number
12.5 Configuration examples
Networking requirements
The host uses PPPoE to access the Internet through the Router.
You connect the Router to the host through Ethernet interface 1/0/0, and to the Internet
through POS 2/0/0.
If you adopt the simple option, the password is stored in the configuration files in plain text.
You obtain the login user with low class the password by checking the configuration mode.
Therefore, you are recommended to use the cipher option.

Configuration roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1. Configure the authentication mode as CHAP.
2. Allocate the IP address pool.
3. Configure the PPPoE protocol.
