Nortel Secure Router 8000 Series
Configuration -WAN Access 10 Low-speed ATM configuration
Issue 5.3 (
30 March 2009) Nortel Networks Inc. 10-53
Fault analysis
After the PVC of Router A is faulty or deleted, the PVC that connects Router B does not sense
the status change of the remote PVC immediately, and the PVC of Router B still works
normally but lose the packets.
The OAM F5 Loopback function is a re-transmission detection mechanism, through which the
local PVC can sense the status change of the remote PVC immediately.
Configuring the OAM F5 Loopback function in the PVC of ATM can solve this problem.
Troubleshooting procedure
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1 Enter the system view by running the system-view command.
Step 2 Enter the ATM interface view by running the interface atm 1/0/0 command.
Step 3 Enter the PVC-Group view by running the pvc-group 255/2047 command.
Step 4 Enter the PVC view by running the pvc100/101 command.
Step 5 Configure the interface for sending the OAM F5 Loopback cell as one second by running the
oam frequency 1 command.
