Step 2 Check the ATM interfaces of the two terminals to determine whether both are multimode
fiber interface or single mode fiber interface. If their types are different, replace one of them
to make both of them same. When directly connected, a multimode fiber interface and a single
mode fiber interface may interconnect in most cases. The above mentioned fault might occur
in certain rare cases.

10.13.6 Link is not up when using IPoA or PPPoA
Fault description
When using IPoA or PPPoA, the link status does not change to UP.
Fault analysis
The possible causes are:
z
The local IP address is not configured correctly.
z
PVC configuration fails or communication between cards fails.
z
The optical fiber is not plugged in correctly.
Troubleshooting procedure
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1 Check whether the configured IP addresses are correct by using the display ip interface atm
command.
Step 2 Check whether the PVC creation information is correct by using the display atm pvc-info
command.
Step 3 Check whether the fiber is plugged in correctly.

Fault description
The ATM1/0/0 interface of Router A and the interface 1/0/0 of Router B directly connect. The
