6 PPP and MP configuration

Preconfiguration tasks
Before configuring MP authentication binding using the VT, complete the following tasks:

Configuring physical attributes of the router interface
z
Configuring the link layer protocol of the interface as PPP
z
Configuring the authentication mode (CHAP or PAP) of the PPP interfaces
Data preparation
To configure MP authentication binding using the VT, you need the following data.

2 Number of the VT
3 IP addresses and subnet masks of the VT

NOTE
You need to configure the local end and the peer end separately. The methods are the same.
6.7.2 Creating a VT
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view appears.
Step 2 Run:
interface virtual-template number
The VT is created.
Step 3 Run:
ip address ip-address { mask | mask-length } [ sub ]
The command assigns the IP address to the VT.
