5 Logical interface configuration

The null interface view appears.
The Null interface remains in the Up state all the time. It cannot forward data packet. You can
neither configure an IP address for it nor encapsulate it with protocols.

5.6.3 Checking the configuration
Run the following commands to check the previous configuration.
Action Command
Check the status of a Null
interface.
display interface null [ 0 ] [ | { begin | exclude | include }
regular-expression ]
Run the display interface null command to view that the status of the null interface is Up.

5.7.1 Example for configuring the sub-interface
Networking requirements
As shown in Figure 5-1:

Serial 1/0/0:0 of Router A connects with Router B and Router C through the public FR
network.

You configure a sub-interface on Serial 1/0/0:0 on Router A so that LAN 1 can access
LAN 2 and LAN 3 at the same time through Serial 1/0/0:0.
