5.4 Configuring virtual ethernet interfaces
5.4.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
You use Virtual Ethernet (VE) interfaces in PPPoEoA and IPoEoA, and for the configurations
of policy-based routing, firewall, and routing.
Configuration of the VE interface is like that of the eEthernet interface. For details, refer to
"Ethernet Interface Configuration" in the Nortel Secure Router 8000 Series Configuration
Guide - LAN and MAN Access.
In addition, VE interfaces support the routing protocol.
Preconfiguration tasks
Before configuring a VE interface, install and power on the router properly.
