Nortel WLAN Security Switch 2300 Series Configuration Guide
Configuring AP access points
AP contain radios that provide networking between your wired network and IEEE 802.11 wireless users. An AP
connects to the wired network through a 10/100 Ethernet link and connects to wireless users through radio signals.
AP Overview
Figure 6 on page 222 shows an example of a Nortel network containing AP access points and WSSs. An AP can be
directly connected to a WSS port or indirectly connected to an WSS switch through a Layer 2 or IPv4 Layer 3 network.
For redundancy, an AP can have one of the following combinations of multiple connections:
Two direct connections to a single WSS or two WSSs
Up to four indirect connections to WSSs through intermediate Layer 2 or Layer 3 networks
One direct connection to a WSS and up to three indirect connections to WSSs through intermediate Layer 2 or
Layer 3 networks
