Port Commands 51
Nortel WLAN—Security Switch 2300 Series Command Line Reference
packets sent to a WSS port in such a configuration can cause forwarding on the link to stop.
Do not set the port speed of a gigabit port to auto. Although the CLI allows this setting, it is invalid. If you set
the port speed of a gigabit port to auto, the link will stop working.
Examples
The following command sets the port speed on ports 1, 7 through 11, and 14 to 10 Mbps and sets
the operating mode to full-duplex:
WSS# set port speed 1,7-11,14 10
set port trap
Enables or disables Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) linkup and linkdown traps on an individual port.
Syntax
set port trap port-list {enable | disable}
Defaults
SNMP linkup and linkdown traps are disabled by default.
Access
Enabled.
Usage
The set port trap command overrides the global setting of the set snmp trap command.
The set port type command does not affect the global trap information displayed by the show snmp status command.
For example, if you globally enable linkup and linkdown traps but then disable the traps on a single port, the show snmp
status command still indicates that the traps are globally enabled.
Examples
The following command enables SNMP linkup and linkdown traps on ports 17 and 18:
WSS# set port trap 17-18 enable

Caution! When you set the port type for AP use, you must specify the PoE state
(enable or disable) of the port. Use the WSS’s PoE to power Nortel APs only. If you enable
PoE on a port connected to another device, physical damage to the device can result.
